Void Meditation

Posted on Sep 28, 2009

Thoughts are the most beautiful thing that human beings are blessed with. No individual can live without thoughts. They are part and parcel of the human mind. It is created and emitted from the conscious and sub-conscious mind.

Thoughts are mostly dependent on moods as in happy times we enjoy only the happy thoughts while in a depressed the same thoughts get transformed into sad and disheartening thoughts.

If we are able to block the thoughts for a particular period of time we will be able to see and feel the supra-conscious mind. This is the powerhouse that resides in the most remote corner of the mind. Tapping this source of energy would unleash the true potential of the human mind.

The following technique would provide a simple yet effective method of achieving this powerful feeling. This is a dynamic method of meditation so it is advisable that it should not be done during emotional upheavals.

Step # 1- Watching What
(Time- 20 minutes)

  • For doing this technique sit comfortably with erect spine facing a blank wall or a white piece of paper.
  • The technique is to observe the blank paper/wall very minutely.
  • Continue watching the paper till you feel a sense of blankness coming over you.
  • It is possible you may feel some sense of fear or vibrations in the upper spinal
column. Do not leave the meditation continue with the process.

Step # 2- Watching Sky
(Time – 20 minutes)

This meditation is best done in outdoors when the sky is clear or has little clouds. Never do this method when the sun is high or in the night with full of stars.

  • For doing this technique lie down comfortably; feet apart and hands on the side.
  • The technique is to observe the clear sky minutely.
  • Continue watching the sky till you feel a sense of blankness/ sleepiness coming over you. Do not close your eyes; otherwise you will fall asleep and that we do not want.

Continuous practice of this meditation would bring in the awareness that the physical body is just another extension of the inner body.
